Our Team

Dorjan Puka

CEO/Owner

Born and raised in Albania, Dorjan Puka moved to Connecticut in 1998 seeking new experiences and opportunities. Leveraging his culinary talent and strong work ethic, Puka worked his way up in various kitchens in the region including Vito’s by the Park, Max’s Oyster Bar and Max’s Tavern in Springfield, Massachusetts.

In December of 2010, Puka opened his first solo venture, Treva Restaurant & Bar, an Italian concept in West Hartford. The restaurant was unlike anything in the area and garnered great reviews from The Hartford Courant, Connecticut Magazine and The New York Times. This success was mirrored with his second West Hartford restaurant Àvert Brasserie, which opened three years later in 2013. That same year, Hartford Magazine named Puka one of the top 10 chefs in the region. In November of 2014, Puka opened Artisanal Burger Company in Manchester. Once again, Puka was praised by media and locals alike, this time for his take on America’s beloved hamburger.

Puka’s culinary passion extends beyond the restaurants. He is actively involved with Growing Great Schools, a non-profit community-based organization that helps create healthier schools. When not in his restaurants, Chef Dorjan enjoys traveling with his wife and his two sons.

Anthony Phenis

Executive Chef

Born in Richmond Indiana in 1971 and graduating from The Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park New York, Anthony Phenis first worked in a restaurant at age 15.  His first professional restaurant job came in 1997 as executive sous chef of Tapatio, a Latin American Caribbean restaurant in Columbus Ohio.  With numerous television appearances and cooking classes under his belt, he soon became a television fixture in the Ohio culinary world.

Phenis showed a talent for cooking and natural leadership.  His grandfather Quin, a tenured restaurant chef and owner of 45 years, was the guiding force behind Anthony’s culinary pursuit.

After a fulfilling stint as a sous chef in Columbus, Anthony headed to Chicago after catching the eye of Select Restaurants  CEO John Quagliata.  Over the next four years he headed up three restaurants as an executive chef to eventually captain their flagship restaurant, Pier W in Cleveland Ohio.

Leaving the Midwest, Phenis headed to New England in 2012 to manage a gastro pub with a chef from CIA.  He then became corporate chef for Mill Restaurant Group of South Windsor, Connecticut.

After three years with MRG, Anthony decided to team with West Hartford chef Dorjan Puka to open up Artisanal Burger Company for DORO Restaurant Group.  He intends to use his culinary knowledge and experiences to expand DORO Restaurant Group and keep ABC and other ventures in the forefront of the culinary world.
